EcoRIL25 is an acronym for "Economical, Eco-friendly Radiation Indicator Labels for 25 kGy radiation dose. The developed VOC free radiation indicator labels are intended to use in radiation sterilization of medical products, where the targeted dose is 25 kGy. As a part of ISO compliance, these radiation indicators are mandatorily to be sticked onto the consignment boxes, being subjected to sterilization process, for assuring various aspects of the irradiated medical products with added advantages of (a) To determine visually whether or not a product has been irradiated, rather than to measure different dose levels, (b) To segregate the sterilised product from unirradiated unsterilized medical products at radiation processing plant, and (c) In routine monitoring, load monitoring, and qualification of the radiation sterilization procedure and auditing of the records at the irradiation facility.
EcoRIL25 is an acronym for "Economical, Eco-friendly Radiation Indicator Labels for 25 kGy radiation absorbed dose indicators for medical sterilization application with advantages like, indigenous, low cost, environment friendly import substitute. The developed VOC free radiation indicator labels are intended to use in radiation sterilization of medical products, where the targeted dose is 25 kGy. As a part of ISO compliance, these radiation indicators are mandatorily to be pasted onto the consignment boxes, being subjected to sterilization process, for assuring various aspects of the irradiated medical products with added advantages.
Sterilization of medical devices and surgical instruments/implants is of critical importance in the field of healthcare, because any unsterilized material that may come in contact with tissue or the mucus membrane of the patient during treatment, the various processes is associated with increased risk of introduction of pathogens into the patient's body. Therefore, adequate decontamination/sterilization techniques for medical and surgical devices are needed in all the health care procedures. Sterilization is decontamination process in which complete elimination or destruction (with SAL value ~10-6) of all forms of microorganism, carried out by different physical and chemical methods. There are two most common methods of sterilisation of single use medical products adopted worldwide: ETO and radiation-based sterilization. There are two most common methods of sterilisation of single use medical products are: (i) Ethylene Oxide (ETO) treatment and (ii) radiation based (gamma, E-beam). In the Indian scenario, gamma radiation sterilization accounts for ~2 million cubic feet, i.e., 11 percent of the total volume of products sterilized.
