Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) came into existence on August 3, 1954 as an integrated group of organizations. DAE comprises of 5 Research Centres, 3 Industrial Organizations, 3 Service Organizations, 5 Public Sector Undertakings, 2 Boards and 5 Aided Institutions.

BARC is one of the leading units of DAE which is having different groups inside. And these groups are further divided with their divisions. Medical Group is one of the groups in BARC and Which is having two divisions namely Medical Division and Radiation Medicine Centre.
At the heart of our operations lies the state-of-the-art 390-bed Multispecialty Hospital, complemented by 13 strategically located zonal residential dispensaries spread across Mumbai. Additionally, we have set up three occupational health centres at Trombay, Vashi-BRIT, and Kalyan-EHPPL, addressing the specific health needs of our employees.
The Medical Division oversees the functioning of our multispecialty hospital and the network of zonal dispensaries, ensuring accessible healthcare for all beneficiaries. We also provide a dedicated 24x7 Casualty service at BARC Hospital premises to handle emergencies promptly.
In order to access medical services, all DAE employees and their dependents receive a valid CHSS/MRD card, which is a mandatory requirement for obtaining medical care from any of the service centres under the Medical Division. The Medical Division has made significant improvements to healthcare facilities by expanding its infrastructure to include the main building, annex building, and a newly developed wing, all aimed at enhancing patient care. Additionally, modern amenities such as CT and MRI have been introduced for the convenience and betterment of the patients.

BARC Hospital:

BARC Hospital, a leading 390-bedded multispecialty medical centre located in Anushaktinagar, Mumbai - 94. Our hospital is proud to be accredited by the National Board of Examination (NBE), New Delhi, for the prestigious DNB (Diplomate of National Board) program. Currently, we are nurturing 22 post-graduate DNB students, providing them with an enriching learning experience across various specialties. Dispensaries:
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare, we operate thirteen zonal dispensaries and three occupational health centres. These centres are strategically positioned to offer primary health care services to residents in both urban and suburban areas of Mumbai, including Navi Mumbai. For secondary and tertiary care needs, patients are referred to BARC Hospital, ensuring seamless and well-coordinated medical support.
Computerization:
Embracing modern technology, the Medical Division is a fully computerized unit, empowered by a web-based Hospital Information System (HIS). This system facilitates seamless connectivity across all our service centres, enabling efficient management and coordination of medical services. Additionally, we have implemented an electronic attendance system at both BARC Hospital and the dispensaries, streamlining our administrative processes.
