For the treatment of various types of cancer using X and gamma radiation, accurate dose has to be delivered to the selected site. For this purpose, the radiation output from deep therapy X-ray, tele-cobalt machines and accelerators have to be measured accurately.
An ionization chamber of 0.5 C.C. Volume is used as detector. The current produced in the ion chamber is integrated using an op-amp integrator and displayed on 3½ digit LCD display. A Perspex build-up cap is provided along with the chamber when using the chamber for Co-60 radiation.
This dosemeter can measure integrated exposure upto 1999 cGy with an accuracy of +/- 3%. This instrument can also be used to measure depth dose in phantoms and evaluate HVT of x-ray beams.
