ELECTRON BEAM WELDING MACHINE |
Electron Beam Welding (EBW) is a process where a focussed beam of High Energy Electrons delivers its energy to the weld Zone.
Main features of the EB Welding machine are: |
This is a Multidisciplinary Technology involving:
High power density -105 w/mm2 (TIG Welding requires 1-2 w/mm2).
High welding speeds (1-6 m/min depending upon material and its thickness).
Deep penetration welding up to 30 mm in single pass.
Maximum weld penetration up to 60 mm of steel.
Suitable for welding of very reactive materials (Ti, Zr, Hf etc.), thin materials (0.1 mm), thick to thin materials and dissimilar materials.
EBW requires no filler material, joint preparation and post weld machining.
Vacuum chamber (10-2 to10-5 torr) provides oxide/ slag/ void free welds controlling the purity of materials.
Low weld affected zone.
Low heat input (1/10th of TIG) provides negligible deformation/ distortion specially for finished parts.
Welding possible in inaccessible locations.
Design available for 30 KV to 150 kV machines.
