MINI/MICRO STEPPING CONTORL DRIVE & ASSOCIATED DRIVE
SOFTWARE WITH ALGORITHMS FOR STEPPER MOTOR

Microstepping of a stepper motor improves positioning resolution in any servo control applications. This technique is used to directly drive inertial loads with motor, without gear interface. The gearing is achieved electronically to get positions lesser than normal step angle of motor. For microstep rotor positioning the current ratioing is done in two phases in order to maintain relation of rotor displacement electrical angle Vs the developed torque. To increase micro-step resolution, the rotor position is corrected by using close loop algorithm.

SALIENT FEATURES

The control scheme positions upto 0.036° i.e. 1/50 o
f a step angle of stepper motor.
The control circuit can be interfaced with latched output port add-on card of PC or with microprocessor kit output port.
The control circuit has eight digit hex display to view rotor angle via incremental rotary encoder.
The control circuit has facility to generate two interrupts for PC or microprocessor kit to read anticlockwise or clockwise rotation.
Desired speed of motor rotation can be selected.

The above circuits are also made on EURO bus compatible boards. Form factor of euro bus boards are 233.4 x 160 mm2. The boards include 8086-87 CPU board, 8751 based micro stepping controller boards and Encoder Pulse shaper board in double euro bin with back planes. Programmes are in C language and EPROM for above boards are available.

APPLICATION

MINI/MICRO stepping control of stepper motors provide a cost effective solutions for positional control and electronic gearing applications, for industrial robotics, NC machines and other fields. This controls scheme can be used to make drives for Interferometers for Physics laboratories. Diffractometer experiments, very low strain rate generation for stress corrosions machine for material testing, laser tuning systems, laser beam positioning systems for diamond cutting industry, synchroscope for power plant manual/auto synchronizer and fine reactivity control equipments for nuclear reactors and many other fields.
