MANUFACTURING OF ECCENTRIC COLLET CHUCK

Manufacturing of eccentric parts usually requires special fixtures. In jobbing type of workshops when variety of eccentric jobs are involved making fixtures every time is rather cumbersome and time consuming. Even the ordinary CNC lathes are not suitable for manufacturing eccentric parts as rotation of spindle and tool travel is to be synchronized. The eccentric collect chuck designed and developed at BARC eliminates the need to make special fixtures. This eccentric collect chuck permits to manufacture components with various eccentricities within the range of the chuck. It offers the flexibility to change from one eccentricity to another in a single set up. It can be used for holding the jobs with circular as well as any polygonal cross section. This eccentric collect chuck replaces many eccentric bushes or collets used in conventional chucks. This chuck can function as a self-centering chuck and also as an independent four jaw chuck. Both concentric and eccentric work pieces can be machined by merely changing settings, thereby reducing inventory and improving productivity.
