Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to The International workshop on Positron Studies of Defects 2020 (PSD-20) to be held during March 22-27, 2020 at DAE Convention Centre, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, India. PSD is a prestigious series of conference (triennial) in Positron annihilation spectroscopy for defect characterization. The tenth meeting of the series is going to be held in India in 2020. The aim of this workshop has been to bring together positron researchers studying defects in materials for various applications and provide an international platform and excellent opportunity to present and discuss recent results and new experimental & theoretical advances in this field.

It is a great pleasure to welcome scientists working in positron studies of defect from all over the world to share their scientific results, experiences and achievements in the field. We also invite young researchers and students to present their results. The conference will cover positron annihilation study of defects in different materials, defects at surfaces and interfaces using positron beam, positron microscopy, experimental advances and theoretical aspects related to positron annihilation in defects. The conference comprises plenary talks, invited talks and short presentations.

Abstract / Posters

Participants are requested to send their abstract before 15th October, 2019. It is highly recommended that the subject should comply with the scope of the conference. The abstract should not exceed one page length (A4 sheet) and prepared using the template provided here. Please name the submitted file as “author name_preferredchoice of presentation” , For example: abcd_oral.docx and abcd_oral.pdf. You are requested to mark the subject of the email while submission as : “abstract_author’s name”. The abstract can be submitted to the conference email:

For “Poster Presentation” the size of the poster should be no larger than 1 meter in height (vertical) and 1 meter in width (horizontal).

The conference will be held at DAE Convention Centre, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, the residential township of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, India. The venue is located about 20 km north-east of Mumbai downtown. It is about 20 km from international airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport), Mumbai and about 18 km from main railway stations (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Mumbai Central). Mumbai is the financial and commercial capital of India and capital of the Indian state, Maharashtra. It is located on the Konkan coast on the west coast of India. Mumbai is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings.

All overseas delegates for PSD-20 are required to apply for CONFERENCE VISA. However, accompanying persons/family members visiting India, whose sole purpose is leisure/sightseeing, may seek a Tourist Visa (please check with the Indian Consulates in your respective countries before you proceed). All Non-Resident Indians (NRI), who do not possess the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (POI) card, need to apply for a Conference Visa. Besides the invitation letter from the organizers, the visa requires clearances from various government ministries in India. Since these clearances take time (2-3 months) it is essential for the organizers to apply early. Passport details are prerequisite for clearances and delegates are requested to enclose the same (scanned copy of first & last page of passport) when the abstract is submitted.

Accommodation can be arranged through the organizers of the conference at subsidized rates at nearby hotels. The hotel options will be announced soon and travel from these hotels to the conference venue will be arranged by the organizers on working days. Limited accommodation at guest house is also available and can be booked on first come first service basis. Accommodation request for guest house booking can be made at the symposium email:
