Scope

Physics of materials involves fundamental understanding with adesire to manipulate nature by harnessing their properties or creating newmaterials to serve human needs. The 20th century was a period of remarkablefundamental and technological progress in advanced materials, which led to theinvention of devices that now form the basis of much of our technologicalsociety, including the integrated circuit, the laser, magnetic resonanceimaging, liquid-crystal displays and, more recently, high-efficiencysolid-state lighting. By its nature, physics of materials is fundamentally acrosscutting research enterprise; it connects a multitude of subfields withinphysics, from semiconductors to biological physics, and it links physics withother disciplines, fromengineering to computer science to applied mathematics.  This conference focuses at the physics ofemerging functional materials of 21st century, including organic semiconductors(both molecular and polymeric), materials at nanoscale, spintronic materials, novel superconducting and magnetic materials, soft matter etc.

Topics

  • Organic semiconductors: Charge transport; photovoltaic, lighting and field effecttransistors;flexible devices; molecular electronics
  • Softmatter: liquids, colloids, foams, polymers
  • Electronicand lattice phenomena in crystalline solids: semi- and superconductivity, magnetism, ferroelectricity, multiferroics, heavy fermions etc.
  • Non-crystallinesolids: glass and ceramics, granular materials, quasicrystals
  • Biophysics
  • Experimentaltechniques: neutron, synchrotron, x-rays, positron, ions as probes
  • Lowdimensional structures: quantum dots, clusters, nanostructures, thin films
