ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The 4^th International Symposium on Nuclear Analytical Chemistry (NAC-IV), co-sponsored by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), India, will be held at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai, India during November 15-19, 2010. Previous three Symposia [NAC-I (1985 June in Halifax), NAC-II (1992 June in Toronto) and NACIII (2001 June in Halifax)] were organised in Canada. The primary objective of the NAC-IV symposium is to provide a forum to exchange information on recent developments in nuclear analytical chemistry. Fundamental and applied aspects of the subject area will be covered in scientific sessions. Topics like utilization of research reactors and accelerators, applications of radiotracers, nuclear analytical chemistry in different stages of nuclear fuel cycle and R&D works on nuclear analytical techniques for various applications will be covered in the symposium.

a. Conventional and prompt gamma-ray activation analysis
b. Alpha-, X-ray and gamma-ray spectroscopy
c. Nuclear Analytical Chemistry in nuclear fuel cycle
d. Nuclear track techniques
e. Nuclear probe and ion beam analysis techniques
f. Stable and radioisotope tracer methodologies
g. Speciation studies
h. Applications to geological, biological, environmental, archaeological, pharmaceutical, industrial and nutritional materials
i. Nuclear forensics and safety aspects
j. QA/QC in measurements

TECHNICAL PROGRAMME
The sessions will consist of invited talks by experts as well as oral and poster presentations of contributed papers. Several internationally renowned scientists will present invited talks. A special poster session on facilities for nuclear analytical chemistry will be organized. To stimulate student participation, oral and poster presentation competition will be held and prizes will be awarded.

CONTRIBUTED PAPERS
Contributed papers should be written in MS Word compatible version (Office 2000-2003) as per the instructions given in the website. The length of the extended abstract of each contributed paper is of one page (about 250 words). The extended abstract of the invited talk shall be limited to a maximum of 4 pages. Authors of contributed papers and invited talks are requested to submit their abstracts to Secretary by e-mail [nac42010@gmail.com and a copy to nac4@barc.gov.in]. Invited talks and accepted abstracts will be compiled as a booklet to be distributed to the participants during the symposium.
