India is the Thematic Sector Lead Country Coordinator (TSLCC) for Industry right from the point of inception of the concept of TSLCC (year 2001 onwards) and has served the RCA fraternity with utmost dedication and commitment. A brief outline of Dr.G.Singh’s professional profile is as follows.

Dr. Gursharan Singh joined BARC in 1973 after graduating from the 16 th batch (Physics discipline) of BARC Training School. Since then he has been working on developing new techniques using sealed sources and radiotracers for NDT applications, industrial troubleshooting, process optimization and process vessel design modifications, water resources management, environmental control, offering consultancy, conducting training courses for Human Resources Development and carrying out Hot Cell Operations for fabricating high activity Co-60 sources for use in various types of irradiators. His contributions include:

  • Over 7000 persons have been trained and certified at levels 1,2 & 3,
  • Over 500 industries practice Industrial Radiography.
  • 190 columns of various types have been scanned in last 7 years
  • About 30 major Petroleum and Chemical process industries has been benefited by this technology as troubleshooting and process optimization tool.
  • 80, kCi of Co-60 sources are fabricated and supplied to various users in India every year. Techniques for refurbishment of oil-filled glass windows have been established.
