What is RCA?

RCA is a Regional Cooperative Agreement established in 1972 under the aegis of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) between the member countries of Asia and the Pacific Region for the promotion of co-operative Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology through their national institutions and with International Atomic Energy Agency as the nodal agency to co-ordinate the activities.

The RCA Programme is funded by the IAEA Technical Cooperation Fund (TCF) under the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme, extra budgetary resources from the Member States and donors. Member States also provides in-kind contribution to the RCA Programme in the form of hosting events, providing experts, equipments and other resources.

After the successful India- Philippines – Agency Project in 1964, RCA Came into force on 12th June 1972 under the aegis of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) .

  • RCA has now blossomed into a strong group with 17 Member States:
  • India has always taken a proactive and prominent lead role throughout the conceptualization, planning and institution of RCA and also in the implementation of all programmes under the RCA.
