ABOUT US
The mandate of Radiation & Photochemistry Division is basic as well as applied R & D related to nuclear energy programme. The originality of RPCD can be explained by its roots: continuity in the core research programme, which evolved using bottom-up approach since the area of research have came primarily from the scientists themselves, but oriented - whenever possible - towards the problems at any place of the nuclear fuel cycle.
RPCD consists of about forty-odd scientists of international reputation, with recognized innovations ranging from experiments to theory to patents. This can be easily gauged by publication of a large number of papers in peer-reviewed journals of high impact factor. Each of these scientists could lead large independent research teams as would be common in other type of research organizations. However, within RPCD, they work in close unison and systematically share efforts and information while still maintaining independence in producing the final result. We offer access to unique radiation facilities comprising of laser, accelerator and conventional gamma-sources. We carefully nurture and educate the next generation of radiation & photochemistry researchers. The unique array of facilities coupled with extensive in-house experimental and theoretical expertise make RPCD a world renowned centre for radiation & photochemistry. A flavour of research carried out and some of the present and upcoming state-of the- art facilities are presented. |
