What is OCES?
OCES stands for ‘Orientation Course for Engineers and Scientists’. All the selected candidates, who wish to join, various units of ‘Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)’ through ‘BARC Training Schools’ selection process, will have to successfully complete this training programme. The training program covers nuclear science and technology fundamentals in addition to discipline specific courses. All the successful candidates will be absorbed in the various units of ‘Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)’ as Scientific Officers. Additionally, the completion of the course may also entitle many candidates for enrollment to M.Phil/M. Tech/Ph.D. program through the ‘Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI)’ a deemed to be university under the aegis of DAE.
What is DGFS?
DGFS stands for ‘DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme’. All the selected candidates, who secure M.Tech. admission in select institutes on their own (based on valid GATE score) in specializations as specified in the advertisement and also secure admission for the OCES courses stand qualified for the DGFS fellowship. The DGFS fellows are paid stipend and tuition fees to pursue the M.Tech course. After completion of one-year course work at select institutes, the fellows undertake a one year project work, which is assigned and supervised jointly by a DAE and an institute guide. On completion of M.Tech, they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE.
I am frequently getting 'session expired' message. What should I do?
The 'online application form' is active only for a definite period during one session. However, 'session time' available is sufficient to comfortably complete an application form. In case of repeated ’session expired' message, please check your browser setting and ensure that it permits 'session' cookies. A typical method for checking/setting your browser (Internet Explorer) is given below:
- Click 'Tools' menu of browser.
- Click 'Internet Options' in 'Tools' menu.
- Click 'Privacy' tab in 'Internet Options'.
- Click 'Advanced' button in 'Privacy' tab.
- Select Checkbox 'Override automatic cookie handling'
- Select 'Accept' for 'First-parties cookies' and 'Third-party cookies'.
- Select Checkbox 'Always allows session cookies'.
- Save the settings.
- 'Refresh' browser.
I am a 'Civil' engineering discipline candidate. What should I do?
There is no written examination for the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline candidate. Short listing of the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline candidates will be done on the basis of valid GATE score. GATE cutoff score for the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline will be declared on the web site. Accordingly, you are requested to fill the application form indicating your valid GATE score and other GATE details without choosing any ‘examination centre’.
I am an engineering discipline candidate. I do not have GATE score. Can I apply ?
Yes, you can apply for the written examination. Please do not enter any GATE parameter in the online application form.
I am an engineering discipline candidate having valid GATE-YYYY score. What should I do?
Please apply though the online application process. All the OCES/DGFS- engineering discipline applicants, having GATE-YYYY score more than the declared GATE-YYYY cutoff score and meeting other eligibility criteria, will be directly called for selection interview.
I am an engineering discipline candidate. I am appearing for GATE-YYYY. What should I do ?
It is advised to fill the application form after declaration of GATE results; however, you may apply now and submit your GATE-YYYY score later.
I am a science discipline candidate (with GATE score / appearing for GATE score / without GATE score). What should I do?
You are requested to fill the online application form before deadline mentioned. GATE score can be submitted later not available at the time of application. (but before declared last date).
I have valid GATE score for year YYYY, however, I am appearing for GATE-YYYY +1 also. What should I do?
You can apply now and update your GATE score later (before declared last date).
Explain ‘Application processing Fee’ and ‘Demand Draft’ requirement?
A non-refundable ‘Application Processing Fee’ of Rs. 250/- (Rs. Two hundred & Fifty from both as postal application) is chargeable from the applicants in General and OBC categories. SC/ST applicants and Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) are exempted from payment of application fee. Women candidates and physically challenged candidates are also exempted from payment of application fee. For payment of application processing fee, download the three fold challan from the website http:\\oces.hbni.ac.in and make the payment in any branch of the State Bank of India. For online application, the challan no. has to be entered in the on-line format column. For postal application, the challan portion marked as “Institution Copy” should be sent along with the application by Post.
